Visit

Join us for an Open House! CalEarth has held these open houses now for nearly thirty years, and every year more people come to experience it for themselves, and to teach their children how to build a sustainable future. CalEarth associates and apprentices give tours and answer questions throughout the day. Most buildings are wheelchair accessible. Please no pets other than service animals.

  • Please note- No one will be admitted without a reservation.
Kids under 5 are free (max 2 kids per paid ticket).
  • Please check the weather- CalEarth is located in the Mojave desert and can have varied weather conditions including extreme heat/cold/wind.
  • We recommend close-toed shoes as many areas are unpaved, gravel, etc.
  • Please arrive promptly and be prepared to show your email receipt for check in. A CalEarth Team Member will meet you at the gate and walk you to the meeting area. Each open house will start with a brief introduction and overview followed by free time for viewing buildings.

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable

Personal Tours

Tours are available by appointment only. During certain times of the year we have very limited availability due to workshops and other on-site programming. Open House is by far the best time to visit the site.

  • For a 90-minute tour (up to 3 people): $150 donation
  • Groups of 4 or more individuals: $20 additional per person

Field Trips

Field trips can be arranged for classes or groups of students. The children will learn about living in harmony with the environment and how to build homes and emergency shelters with arches, domes, and vaults using the earth under their feet. School groups and other institutions can register for a tour, morning, or day-long workshop.

Schools may also undertake projects in the classroom or school site using Cal-Earth’s educational tools—books, DVDs, and building kits.
