international programs

Accessibility has always been one of the main goals of the work we do at CalEarth. In 2009 we launched a set of international workshop initiatives to bring this work to people around the world who are unable to make the long trek to California. We have been fortunate to co-host multiple workshops in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Australia, France, Iran, and Morocco with our talented and committed alumni. If you have attended a CalEarth program and wish to host a workshop in your home country, please contact us for program requirements.

SuperAdobe Earth Dome Workshop
JJoin the CalEarth Mexico, Rancho Uha, P.A.S. & Tru Clarity Wellness Centrein this Natural Building Diploma combined with a Yoga program at Rancho Uha in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato Mexico. A training will be carried out to build a dome-shaped cabin from start to finish that will be used for lodging, with finishes on the walls.  During this training, floors, paint, doors and windows will not be put on.

calearth IN spain

Since 2011 we have hosted over 25 workshops throughout Spain through our sister organization, CalEarth Spain directed by Marina Medialdea. These workshops have been immensely successful and we are so fortunate to have Marina and her team continually spreading this work throughout Europe and North Africa.

Under Marina's supervision we were also able to publish a Spanish-translated version of our Emergency Sandbag Shelter book, part of our ongoing initiative to make this work accessible to people all over the world.

SuperAdobe bag rolls can also be ordered for shipment throughout Europe. For more information on workshops or to order bag rolls visit the CalEarth Spain website.

In 2011 and 2012 CalEarth joined forces with alumna Ana Maria Gutierrez and her organization, Organizmo in Colombia to host multiple workshops. Other alumni including Fox McBride helped teach this fantastic groups and Organizmo continues to promote SuperAdobe among other natural building technologies at their innovative center. Check out their website or follow them on Facebook for more information.

In 2011 and 2013 CalEarth hosted multiple workshops in Melbourne, Australia with the help of alumni Mystee Unwin, Heather Carragher and many others. Other students have since come from Australia and participated in our long term program and are now hosting programs and building throughout Australia. While there are no official CalEarth hosted programs at this time, check out the work of alumni Hayden Annabel.

In 2011 CalEarth collaborated with Instituto Tonantzin Tlalli of Grupedsac in Ejutla, Oaxaca, Mexico to host an eleven day workshop. Trained by alumni Mark Harmon and Lilly Wolfensberger, this group covered both dome and vault construction. Grupedsac continues to provide workshops on SuperAdobe and other topics related to sustainability. Check out their website or follow them on Facebook for more information.
