This Sustainable Home of standard 3 and 4 bedroom Design is the result of the research and development in Earth Architecture by architect Nader Khalili and Cal-Earth Institute. It's design and structure is based on the Cal-Earth prototype model in Hesperia, California, which passed structural tests for California code, leading to its permit in the city of Hesperia, California. It has been developed as an alternative for sustainable living, using self-help techniques.

EARTH ONE Model A : 1713 sq. ft.
Living room, Dining/Kitchen, 3-Bedroom, 2-Bath, 2-car Garage,(all rooms 12 ft. wide, up to 21 ft. long)
EARTH ONE Model D : 2060 sq. ft.
Living room, Dining/Kitchen, 3-Bedroom, Family room or 4th Bedroom, 2-bath, 2-car Garage (living and kitchen/dining rooms 14 ft. wide, all other rooms 12 ft. wide, all rooms up to 23 ft. long).
Note: Earth One model home designs A and D have been permitted for construction in Hesperia California.
 

 

How to start Practising for building your home:

  1. Order a roll Superadobe bag from the Cal-Earth Products page.The Superadobe Roll includes shipping within mainland US.
  2. Purchase a roll of 4-point barbed wire from your local building supply, fencing, or feed store.
  3. Order a House Plan from the Cal-Earth Products page.The Set of Blueprints and written specificaton for either Model A or Model D costs $1800. Suggested design variations are included for your information only and show one through four bedroom options and additional dome options.
  4. Begin practicing by filling bags of various size lengths cut from the roll, and constructing garden walls, landscaping, small storage buildings, and safe experiments using simple practice arches.
  5. Learn how to build using Cal-Earth's patented system by attending a Cal-Earth apprentice training course. Please see the Apprenticeship page for dates.
  6. Become more familiar with Earth Architecture through Cal-Earth's general information package, sent as a thank you to those who donate an extra $100.
