ONLINE Plasters and Finishes for SuperAdobe

This 2.5 hour class is designed to teach you 3 types of plastering/rendering/finishing techniques: mud straw plaster, sand/cement plaster (both rough and finish coats) and lime plaster, which are all taught at Cal-Earth during our workshops. 

There are six parts to this class:- Introduction to Plastering
- Lesson One: Mud Straw Plaster
- Lesson Two: Sand and Cement Plaster Rough Coat
- Lesson Three: Sand and Cement Plaster Finish Coat
- Lesson Four: Lime Plaster
- Tour and discussion of Cal-Earth on site plasters & finishes

This class was made possible with the support of a grant from the Kalliopeia Foundation.  Also as a reminder, you can apply the tuition for your online class towards any future on-site workshops at Cal-Earth.

Note: Superadobe technology (sandbag tubes and barbed wire) is designed and developed by architect Nader Khalili, and engineered by P.J.Vittore, and C.W. Howe & Associates. Prototypes have been constructed and tested for the City of Hesperia, California, Building and Safety Department, in consultation with I.C.B.O. (International Conference of Building Officials), in the forms of arches, vaults, and domes between 1993 and 1996. These successfully passed California’s strict seismic codes for the structures.
