Rumi, Dancing The Flame

by Nader Khalili

Rumi, Dancing the Flame is the latest book of translations of Rumi's poetry by author and architect Nader Khalili. It contains over 300 short poems (Rubaiyat) translated from the original Persian and illustrated with original Persian calligraphy and photos of the Rumi Dome of Lights in Hesperia, California. The following are some excerpts from this inspiring book.

 i asked my mentor
in our happy hours
the ins and outs of this life
and far beyond
he said
your salvation is on the way
when you try to take
people's pain away

unknown existence
undiscovered beauty
that's how you are
so far
but
one dawn
just like a sun
right from within
you will arise

 all the precious words
you and I have exchanged
have found their way
into the heart of the universe
one day they'll pour on us
like whispering rain
helping us arise
from our roots again

"I cannot stop reading - not reading, feeling the poems - so alive, breathing, singing, burning - my gratefulness and joy." - Laura Huxley, author

What for Rumi was meeting Shams, for Nader Khalili in "Racing Alone" was meeting the kiln that came to life. A new house of fire for man. The man and the kiln became one. Now "Dancing the Flame" is that new dawn in man, bringing us inside the eternal fire, inside the fire." - Dr. Lorna Bernaldo

"There is a tremendous joie de vivre in these robust, passionate and pithy short poems. They deal with life in all its senses, expressing universal feelings about life and love at a time when we are so disengaged from fundamental emotions." - Frances Anderton, contributor to the New York Times/Los Angeles Times
